Rapid Exit is an award-winning program, nationally recognized for its effectiveness in rapidly re-housing shelter families. They quickly and efficiently identify the specific housing barriers of PSP guests and offer immediate referrals to various community services. Advocates from Rapid Exit assist PSP guests with trans¬portation to view apartments, application fees, child care, moving assistance, find¬ing furniture, and much more.

Since 2000, People Serving People has been partnering with the University of St. Catherine’s Community Health Nursing Program. By way of this longstanding partnership, nursing students obtain a real-world setting for training and PSP guests receive free holistic healthcare treatments.

Free Arts volunteers develop projects for the children of People Serving People that incorporate drawing, painting, dance, drama, sculpture and photography. The program’s objectives are to offer children an opportunity to develop healthy relationships with adults, increase their sense of self-worth and learn new ways to communicate through participation in the arts.

An Access Unit social worker visits PSP weekly, addressing issues such as chemi¬cal health, mental health, disabilities, and housing. Upon assessment, social workers provide services and links to various public and private programs such as financial assistance, case management, housing as¬sistance, and disability.

The Greater Minneapolis Crisis Nursery is a warm, loving, and safe place for children to stay when parents are in a crisis situation and unable to safely care for their child/children. An advocate from the Greater Minneapolis Crisis Nursery is on-site every other Thursday afternoon to give guests information and instructions on the use of their Golden Valley facility.

The Hennepin County Health Care for the Homeless Project provides accessible health care to homeless individuals through a variety of health and wellness ser¬vices. These services are made available through the cooperative efforts of Public Health Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, a licensed Social Worker, Medical Assistants and Resident Physicians. This on-site clinic has been serving PSP families since 1988.

The Minneapolis Public Schools Shelter Services Office has been located on-site at PSP since 1988. From this office, MPS staff members assist every shelter or temporary housing parent in the Twin Cities with school registration. They also coordinate transportation both to and from school.

Project Secure is a collaborative administered by Parents in Community Action (PICA). This service is available for children 6 weeks to 5 years of age, and is a comprehensive early childhood development program that promotes the social, emotional, physical, and intellectual growth of a child. Children in Project Secure are bussed to the PICA Head Start facility each weekday and are assigned priority enrollment in the Head Start program in the community they choose to reside following their shelter stay.

All children and teens under the age of 21 receiving Medical Assistance or MinnesotaCare are offered periodic health care, dental screenings and follow-up through their healthcare provider. Child & Teen Checkups staff educate families about comprehensive screening at regular age intervals and assist with appointments, transportation and other services necessary to access healthcare.

348-TOTS is the central intake referral source for early intervention services for children ages 0-3 in Minneapolis. They provide early childhood screening and assistance to families with children who are or may be at risk for developmental delays or disabilities. 348-TOTS is part of an interagency collaborative with the Minneapolis Public Schools, the Minneapolis Department of Health and Family Services, the Hennepin County Children and Family Services and Community Health Departments.

People Serving People has a 20-year history of collaboration with Professor Ann Masten and the University of Minnesota’s Institute of Child Development. Most recently, the efforts of Dr. Masten have focused on promoting school success among children in the early primary grades and developing an innovative early childhood program her at PSP. U of M students and staff regularly participate in the educational, research, and recreational programs here at PSP, affording a unique training experience for undergraduate and graduate students.

Freeport’s mission is to assist in creating familial and community environments where children can thrive. Freeport West facilitates a weekly therapy group with PSP children aged 8 to 11, focusing on homelessness as it relates to children. They also has a children's Social Worker on-site Monday through Thursdays.

Girl Scouts builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place. People Serving People, in partnership with the Girl Scout Council of Greater Minneapolis, provide a weekly Girl Scout meeting for girl's ages 6-12 years old.

HOMELine is an advocacy group of attorneys who specialize in Landlord/Tenant law. They offer guests a free 1-hour course in renting and tenant/landlord laws of Minnesota. In addition, they provide information on legal options available to tenants along with all necessary form letters. HOMELine also has a free hotline.

Play and Learn is an early childhood program that joins PSP, Early Childhood and Family Education (ECFE) from the Minneapolis Public Schools, and The Greater Minneapolis Crisis Nursery. The League of Catholic Women was founded in 1911 and First Impression is one of the many enrichment programs they offer. First Impression supplies business attire to female guests of PSP, giving them a chance to make a good first impression on a job interview.
